About Godwin Equestrian
Godwin Equestrian is owned and run by Alexandra Godwin. Alex started off like many little girls – completely horse obsessed. Her passion for horses begun at a very young age. When she was just a few years old she was fascinated with a picture book titled “The World of Horses” that was gifted to her.
Soon after, when Alex was about 4 years old, the carnival came to town, which had pony rides. Her dad took her one evening for a ride and she absolutely loved it… Alex then proceeded to make her dad take her for a pony ride every night while the carnival was in town. Alex hasn’t stopped riding or obsessing over horses since.

Alex began taking riding lessons at the age of 8 and jumped at any opportunity to ride and learn about horses. At age 12, after years of pleading for a horse, Alex got her first horse, Ricky, who she still has to this day and is her most trusted school horses for beginners to ride on.
Throughout her teens Alex regularly competed in a range of disciplines, including hacking, dressage, sporting and found a real passion for showjumping.
After high school Alex took a break from horses to attend university. Alex studied media at the University of NSW and finished uni with a Bachelor of Media (Journalism and Communications). After finishing university, Alex moved to Byron Bay and worked in marketing before realising she really missed horses. So, Alex threw in her desk job to go work with horses and teach people to ride.

Alex was lucky enough to get a job at Byron Equestrian (formerly Byron Bay Equestrian Centre), where she worked her way up from a stable hand to instructor and on to 2IC Manager. During her time here Alex learnt a lot from some of Australia’s best riders and coaches, got to ride amazing horses and also begun her formal Equestrian Australia Certificates in Riding, Horse Management and Instructing.

After close to five years at Byron Equestrian Alex packed up her bags and moved back to her hometown of Forster with her 4 horses. It’s here that her vision for Godwin Equestrian began.

The aim of Godwin Equestrian is to provide horse training and horse riding lessons to students of all ages and abilities, in a positive, productive and fun way. Alex’s teaching style, for both horses and riders, is to create an environment where horses and riders feel comfortable, safe, and supported, whilst learning the fundamentals of horse riding and horsemanship.

Godwin Equestrian operates out of the beautiful equine property Manning Park Rest in Rainbow Flat on the Mid Coast and offers a range of services including horse training, private lessons, pony rides and pony parties, and half day horse experiences for kids.
​
Alex prides herself on her ability to help horse owners and budding horse riders achieve their goals, however big or small those goals may be.
